Winter on the Bruce doesn't forgive mistakes. One forgotten valve, one missed snow load, one ice dam you never saw coming — burst pipes, collapsed roofs, insurance claims denied for 'lack of due care.' Cottage Hero stops that nightmare before it starts.
Hand us the keys. Forget the worry.
- Clearing roofs before weight becomes danger
- Draining every pipe, winterizing water systems 100% right
- Running generators, checking heat tapes, watching for ice dams
The difference
An empty cottage, or a cottage with a hero
The same winter hits every cottage on the shore. Here's what we take off your plate.
An empty cottage on its own
- Snow loads the roof week after week, with no one to clear it.
- A frozen pipe or a slow leak goes unnoticed for weeks.
- Signs of a break-in sit unseen until spring.
- A problem waits months to be found.
A cottage with Cottage Hero
- Roof and deck snow cleared before the weight builds.
- Pipes drained and winterized, then checked on the schedule you set.
- Someone lays eyes on the place all winter — heat, pipes, and security.
- You get a call and photos the same day we find something.

Common questions
What areas do you serve?
We look after cottages across the Bruce Peninsula, the Georgian Bay shore, and down the Lake Huron coast. That covers South Bruce Peninsula, Bruce County, Saugeen Shores — both Port Elgin and Southampton — the Owen Sound area, Collingwood and the Blue Mountain shore toward Thornbury and Meaford, and south along the Lake Huron shore to Goderich and Grand Bend. On the Northern Bruce Peninsula, we serve cottages located south of Edenhurst. Not sure whether your cottage is in our area? Give us a call and we will tell you right away.
Do you offer driveway snow removal?
No — we do not clear driveways. Our snow work is focused on the parts of your cottage where a missed snow load costs the most: the roof, decks, porches, and the paths right around the building. For driveway plowing, you will want a local plow contractor.
Do you service houses, or only cottages?
Cottages only. Everything we do is built around seasonal properties — the kind that sit empty and unwatched through a Bruce Peninsula winter. That focus is why our checkups and winterizing work the way they do. We do not take on year-round houses.
Do you offer seasonal checkup plans?
Yes. We offer winter checkup plans you can set to your own schedule — weekly, monthly, or a single on-call visit when you just want eyes on the place. Every plan covers the heat, the pipes, the roof snow load, and any sign of a break-in while you are away. You will find the plan details and pricing on our winter checkups page.
